The vehicle distance electronic control unit (ECU) determines if an object in front of you is a vehicle based on the laser radar data, including the position and speed of the object, and the steering angle data from the steering sensor.
If the object is a vehicle, the vehicle distance ECU determines your vehicle’s target acceleration based on the headway time (set by you), and the distance and relative speed to the vehicle in front of you. Based on the target acceleration, the engine ECU controls your vehicle’s speed. |
