Vision Sensor

DENSO’s vision sensor, installed next to a vehicle’s inside rear view mirror, detects lane markers on the road ahead.

How it works:

  • A camera on the vision sensor photographs lane markers ahead.
  • The vision sensor calculates positions and shapes of the lane markers photographed (lane marker recognition process), and sends the information to the steering assist ECU.
  • The vision sensor automatically adjusts the exposure of the camera to perform the lane marker recognition process more easily and accurately.

Benefits and Features

  • Small size
    • Adopting a CMOS image sensor for the camera results in a simple image sensor control circuit.
    • A microcomputer performs the photographing process as well as the lane marker recognition process, simplifying processing circuits.
  • High resolution
    • The CMOS image sensor has approximately 300,000 pixels (640 pixels X 480 pixels).
