Millimeter-Wave Radar DENSO’s millimeter-wave radar, installed in the vehicle front, detects preceding vehicles and obstacles. How it works: It emits a millimeter wave toward a preceding vehicle. It receives the wave reflected by the vehicle ahead. Using the reflected millimeter wave, it calculates the distance to the vehicle, and relative speed and direction of the vehicle.
