
The air system detects the amount of air drawn into the engine cylinder. Based on the detected air amount, the engine ECU calculates the amount of fuel to be injected, keeping the air/fuel ratio around the stoichiometry under any driving conditions.
DENSO’s air system accurately detects the air amount using either the air flow meter or the manifold absolute pressure sensor, or both.
In 2001, DENSO developed integrated air fuel modules that combined many air system components into one unit, and started supplying them to automobile manufacturers, making the air system smaller, lighter and more efficient than conventional non-integrated components. |
