Electronic Throttle Body

The electronic throttle body opens and closes the valve in accordance with the accelerator pedal effort, and controls the amount of air sucked into the engine. As engine life has been extended and engine control has become more complex, longer-life and higher-reliability electronic throttle bodies are required. DENSO's electronic throttle body meets these requirements.

DENSO Technology – Leading the World

In 2001, DENSO introduced the world’s first electronic throttle body with a non-contact internal sensor, lengthening the life to more than double that of a conventional electronic throttle body. The non-contact sensor detects the rotation of the valve and adjusts the opening degree of the valve.

Benefits and Features

  • Long life
    • The DENSO-developed non-contact sensor using a hall IC significantly extends the throttle valve durability, lengthening the life to more than double that of a conventional throttle body.
  • Precise air-amount control
    • The non-contact sensor has a unique magnetic circuit, achieving precise detection of the valve rotation at a wide range of temperature to adjust the valve rotation.
  • Small size and low cost
    • The non-contact sensor is integrated with the throttle gear chamber cover, resulting in smaller size and lower cost.
    • Connectors for the DC motor that drives the throttle valve and the non-contact sensor connectors are integrated with the cover, making assembly easier.
